Pregnancy & Postpartum Care

Your baby needs a regulated nervous system, and that starts with yours. Gentle chiropractic care adapted for your transformative journey into motherhood.

Care adapted to each stage of pregnancy

Motherhood is a transformational journey that begins long before birth, from preconception through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.

We are honoured to support women and their families through this special season, helping them feel more comfortable, balanced and empowered along the way.

Pregnancy brings incredible physical and hormonal changes as your body adapts to support your growing baby. These changes can affect how you move, feel and function, with tension or discomfort developing through the spine, pelvis and surrounding tissues.

Pregnancy is also a time of deep connection between mother and baby. Supporting mum’s nervous system, sense of safety and overall wellbeing can help create a calm, supportive environment for both mum and baby.

These changes may contribute to symptoms such as:

  • Pelvic or lower back pain
  • Sciatic type symptoms
  • Pelvic floor symptoms
  • Round ligament discomfort
  • Rib, neck or upper back tension
  • Breathing restriction
  • Headaches
  • Changes in movement or posture
  • Reduced confidence with movement
  • A feeling of disconnection from your body
  • Changes in baby's positioning

Our pregnancy care focuses on supporting your body as it changes through each stage. We use gentle, pregnancy-specific chiropractic care, including chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue techniques, Webster Technique and Optimal Maternal Positioning.

Care is tailored to you, with a focus on comfortable movement, reducing tension and supporting pelvic balance. We also provide practical guidance around posture, movement and daily habits to support you throughout pregnancy and beyond.

Support for your recovery and the realities of new parenthood

While much attention is placed on pregnancy and birth, the postnatal period is just as important. As your body recovers from birth and adapts to caring for a newborn, it continues to undergo significant physical, hormonal and emotional changes.

The demands of feeding, carrying, lifting, settling and caring for your baby, often alongside disrupted sleep and limited time for recovery, can place additional strain on the body and nervous system.

Many mothers experience symptoms such as:

  • Neck and shoulder tension
  • Headaches
  • Difficulties with breastfeeding
  • Upper and lower back pain
  • Wrist and hand discomfort
  • Pelvic or hip pain
  • Core weakness
  • Postural strain
  • General aches and fatigue associated with the physical demands of motherhood

Our approach to postnatal care focuses on supporting your recovery, restoring movement and helping your body adapt to the new demands of motherhood.

Through gentle, individualised care, we aim to improve mobility, reduce areas of tension and discomfort, and support your body's natural healing and recovery process.

Whether you are adjusting to life with a newborn, returning to exercise, or simply wanting to feel more comfortable in your body again, our goal is to help you feel supported, confident and cared for during this important stage of your motherhood journey.

How are treatments adapted to me as my pregnancy progresses? +

Treatment will be tailored to each stage, with techniques that are pregnancy based. We have pregnancy friendly treatment tables that allow us to position you and adjust safely during your whole pregnancy. We also have specialised pregnancy pillows to cushion your growing baby for every stage that will allow you to lie on face down during treatment. If lying face down feels uncomfortable, we can treat you in a side lying or sitting position because all treatment and adjustments are tailored to how your body feels and your pregnancy stage. We have pregnancy friendly treatment tables that allow us to position you and adjust safely during your whole pregnancy.

Can I still come in to get my pelvis checked during pregnancy even if I'm not experiencing any pain or discomfort? +

Yes you can. Being free from pain or discomfort is not an indicator that your alignment is optimal. Mum's will experience ligament laxity due to hormonal changes, muscle tension, and a shift in their centre of gravity while baby is growing. Therefore, many mums come in to get their pelvis checked to ensure they're moving well while their bodies are adapting to the stages of pregnancy.

Can care work alongside my maternity team? +

Yes of course it can! Cindy loves and welcomes collaborative care with other practitioners in your maternity team to ensure you have the best care in during pregnancy and after birth.

When can I seek postpartum care? +

Timing depends on your recovery and wider care context. You are welcome to ask before booking so Cindy can help you choose an appropriate next step.

Can I bring my baby or children to my appointment while being treated? +

Of course babies and children are always welcome to your appointment. If you have another family member with you, we are also located to cafes and play areas that are within walking distance from the clinic.
